maruchan-seimen-tonkotsu-shoyu-ramen
Maruchan Seimen Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen Packet Japanese Non-Fried Noodles 5 Servings 505g

This is a bag of five Japanese pork-bone and soy-sauce ramen servings you cook in a saucepan, not a cup you pour water into. Each serving is a round block of medium-thick, non-fried noodle with its own soup, built on pork extract, soy sauce and chicken fat. Buy it for a rich soy ramen with pork in the soup; if you want a light broth, the plain soy-sauce bag in the same range is the better pick.

On the pack: マルちゃん正麺 豚骨醤油味. Seimen (say-men) is the name of the range, tonkotsu means pork bone and shōyu means soy sauce.

What you're getting

The noodle is the reason this range exists. It is dried straight from raw dough, with no steaming or frying, so it cooks up smooth and chewy and eats more like a fresh noodle than a packet one.

The noodle is medium-thick, like the range's plain soy-sauce and salt bags, and takes three minutes in the pan. The block is round, so it fits a small saucepan.

The chicken fat makes the soup richer and heavier than the plain soy-sauce bag's.

It is saltier than the plain soy-sauce bag. Most of the salt is in the soup, so if a full bowl tastes too strong, add a little more hot water or use less of the soup.

Allergens: contains wheat, egg, milk and soy. Milk is declared on the pack but no ingredient names it, so our ingredients panel does not show it: on milk, trust the allergen list. Read the pack's own label before you rely on ours.

Also on the label: there is meat in it. The soup is made with pork extract and chicken fat, and the pack declares gelatine as well. Anyone who avoids pork or meat should skip it.

The one thing to get right: nothing is drained. You boil one noodle block in a measured 500 ml for three minutes, then tip the noodles and all of the cooking water into a bowl where the soup is already waiting. That water is the broth. The cooking steps are set out in English below.

This is not Seimen's tonkotsu bag, which has a thin noodle and no soy sauce in its name, and not the new Seimen tonkotsu-shoyu cup, which is a different product. It is not the American Maruchan Ramen either; Seimen is a separate Japanese range. The maker updated the recipe in September 2026, and the allergens did not change.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0824/1312/5858/files/maruchan-seimen-tonkotsu-shoyu-5-pack-bag.webp?v=1792755397
