Wholesale & sourcing — Sydney based, Australia-wide

From Japan. For your business.

Tell us what your business needs from Japan. We look into it with suppliers there, in Japanese, and come back with what is possible, what it would cost and what the next step is.

Cafés · Restaurants · Retailers · Hotels · Manufacturers — and businesses that fit none of these

What to send us

  • What the product is — a name, a photo, or a description
  • Roughly how much you would need
  • When you would need it by
  • A target price, if you have one

You do not need to know the Japanese supplier or the product’s Japanese name. Working that out is the job.

How it works

Start with a plain-English enquiry. You do not need to know the supplier, the Japanese product name or the quantity before you write.

  1. 1

    Tell us what you need

A product name, a photo, a grade, a target price — or just the result you want on your menu or your shelf.

  2. 2

We look into it in Japan

We find out what exists, who makes it and whether they will supply it — asking in Japanese, directly.

  3. 3

We check it can come in

What Australia requires before a product can land — biosecurity, food or cosmetic standards, labelling. If it cannot be imported, you hear that here rather than after you have committed to anything.

  4. 4

    You get the real numbers

What is possible, what it would cost you landed in Australia, how long it would take and the smallest order a supplier will take.

  5. 5

    Try it before you commit

Where a supplier offers samples, we arrange them so your team can taste or test the product before there is an order.

  6. 6

    We coordinate the rest

Supplier confirmation, importing and delivery to your door, with one person in Australia to talk to throughout.

What we can source

We are not tied to one category, so what we go looking for is decided by what your business needs rather than by what somebody already has sitting in a warehouse.

  • Matcha and Japanese tea

Matcha, tea powders and loose leaf — including the grades built to hold up in milk and the ones meant to be drunk straight.

  • Food and ingredients

Noodles, sauces, seasonings, pantry staples, snacks and specialty ingredients for kitchens and shelves.

  • Hospitality supply

Tableware, packaging and kitchen goods alongside the food itself, for cafés, bakeries, restaurants and hotels.

  • Retail range

Japanese products for grocers, gift shops and specialty retailers putting a Japanese section together.

  • Beauty and wellness

Japanese skincare, haircare and salon lines, for businesses stocking them or using them on clients.

  • Something not on this list

Ask anyway. Working out whether there is a way to get a thing from Japan is the job, and finding out costs you nothing.

There is no minimum enquiry. One café asking about one product is a normal first message — and if a supplier’s own minimum turns out to be more than you can use, we will tell you that before you spend any more time on it.

What working with us looks like

  • One point of contact in Australia

You deal with us here, in English, on Australian time. The Japanese side is ours to manage.

  • We ask in Japanese, directly

Supplier conversations happen in the supplier’s own language, so the details that matter do not get lost being translated twice.

  • The commercial detail up front

Minimum order, lead time and an indicative landed cost, so you can judge whether something works before you commit to it.

  • We source to order

Nothing here is stock we are trying to move. What we go looking for is what you asked for.

What we won’t promise

The limits, stated before you spend time on an enquiry rather than after.

  • That everything can be found

Some things are not exported, not made any more, not sold to businesses outside Japan, or not allowed into Australia. When that is the answer, you get it quickly.

  • That a supplier will say yes

Japanese makers choose who they supply and on what terms. We can ask properly; we cannot decide for them.

  • That we will beat your current price

We pass on what a supplier quotes plus what it costs to bring here. Sometimes that is not cheaper, and we will say so.

  • A date before a supplier has given us one

Lead times come from the maker and from shipping. We pass them on rather than estimate them for you.
