Product information
About
Hard milk lollies flavoured with matcha, Japan's powdered green tea. There is more milk in them than matcha: the milk powders, condensed milk and cream all come before the green tea powder on the list. Buy them if you like a milky, sweet matcha flavour; if you want a strong, bitter matcha hit, this is probably the wrong bag.
On the pack: 北海道 抹茶みるく飴.
What you're getting
- The cream and condensed milk come from Hokkaido, Japan's northern island; the matcha comes from Nishio, a city in Aichi prefecture in central Japan.
- A hard candy to suck slowly, not a soft or chewy lolly.
- Kasugai, a candy maker from Nagoya in Aichi, makes this one for shops outside Japan; it is not part of Kasugai's range for Japanese shops.
- The ingredients and allergens on the back of the bag are printed in English, so you can check them without reading Japanese.
- Allergens: milk and soy. Read the pack's own label before you rely on ours.
Keep the bag away from small children: a hard candy can lodge in a small child's throat.

- Founded 1928
Kasugai was founded in Nagoya in 1928. In Japan it makes hard candies, Frutia gummies (since 1990) and Green Mame bean snacks (since 1973).
Next to the sweets it sells in Japan, Kasugai keeps a separate range for shops abroad. This matcha milk candy is one of them: Kasugai makes it for shops outside Japan rather than for sale in Japan, and prints its back panel in English.
