About

A large Japanese cup yakisoba, fried noodles you drain and then toss through a salt sauce, with a lemon tang over pork, sesame oil and black pepper. Buy it if you want a big, rich, salty and lemony noodle meal; if you want a light lunch, this is the wrong cup.

明星 一平ちゃん夜店の焼そば 大盛 レモン香る豚肉塩だれ味. Ippei-chan Yomise no Yakisoba (yomise are the night stalls at a Japanese summer festival), the large (ōmori) cup, in its lemon and pork salt-sauce flavour. Roughly "ip-pay-chan".

What you're getting

  • Taste: a salty pork sauce with sesame oil and black pepper, and a lemon flavour that cuts through the richness. The lemon is a flavouring; there is no lemon juice in it.
  • Portion: 130 g of noodles in a 172 g cup, where the regular Ippei-chan cups hold 100 g, so one cup is a full meal.
  • On top: a garlic mayonnaise sachet you draw over the noodles at the end, and a sprinkle of sesame, pepper and chives. Small pieces of pork and cabbage are already in the cup.
  • The honest caveat: it is strongly flavoured and rich, and people who dislike strong flavours find it too much. Go easy on the mayonnaise if that is you.
  • Allergens: contains wheat, egg, milk, soy, sesame and apple, plus pork and chicken. Read the pack's own label before you rely on ours. Australian labels don't have to flag apple as an allergen, and the ingredient list does not say where it comes from, so if you avoid apple, skip this cup.
  • Also on the label: made on equipment that also handles prawn, crab and walnut.

It is not a soup: the water comes out before anything else goes in. The salt sauce is rich and heavy, not light. And if you have had the regular salt Ippei-chan, this is the bigger cup, with lemon and without the seaweed sprinkle.

Ippei-chan's yomise yakisoba has put a festival-stall plate of fried noodles into a cup, with mayonnaise to draw over the top, since 1995. This lemon and pork salt version is its flavour for the summer of 2026, in the large cup.
