Product information
About
A sweet powder you stir into milk for a black bean latte with a toasty, roasted-soybean taste and no tea or coffee in it. Buy it if you want a sweet milky drink without tea or coffee; if you want it unsweetened, or you avoid soy, this is the wrong mix.
On the pack: 黒豆きなこラテ (koo-roh-mah-meh kee-nah-koh rah-teh, "black bean kinako latte"). Kinako is flour made from roasted soybeans, and this one is made from black soybeans.
What you're getting
- Three ingredients and nothing else: beet sugar, black-soybean flour and wasanbon, a fine Japanese cane sugar. All three are grown in Japan.
- Sugar is the first ingredient, so this is a sweet drink, not plain kinako flour.
- There is no milk in the powder, so you choose the milk: the pack names cow's, soy and oat milk.
- Two teaspoons (8 g) make a cup, so an 80 g pouch makes about ten, and it closes with a zip.
- Allergens: soy. Read the pack's own label before you rely on ours.
In cold milk it can stay a little powdery: stir it well, or warm the milk and most of the grit goes. The powder sinks if the drink stands, so stir again before you finish it.
Ingredients
Sugar (beet, Japan), black soybean powder (black soybeans, Japan), wasanbon sugar (sugar cane, Japan)

Our guide
How to eat it
- For one cup of black bean latte, put two teaspoons (8 g) of powder in a mug or glass.
- Pour in 100–120 mL of cold milk and stir well; it is ready to drink iced.
- For a hot latte, microwave the cup at 500 W for about a minute, then stir well again.
Good to know
- Any lump left at the bottom of the cup stirs back in, and you can add more or less powder to taste.
- Close the zip after each use and keep the pouch away from strong smells, which the powder picks up.
